1. Try to find out the current opinion of the target audience about the company and their attitude towards new products and services. For most companies, customers are the main target audience, though good PR helps the company attract talented employees.
2. Procedures for communication with the target audience and media will be formulated and implemented. This will include deciding who will answer queries from the media and the amount of information to be released to the public.
3. Developing goodwill by communicating regularly with their target audience. In many industries, government policies can affect sales of a product, so public relation agencies often interact with law makers and politicians.
4. Co-ordination of all PR activities like press conferences and press releases. Media attendance at corporate events is planned, organized and managed by the PR agency. Similarly a PR agency will have a list of relevant media outlets (both off line and online) which reach the target audience for the company’s products and services.

Public Relations (PR) is managing communications between an organization and its customers, vendors and other target audience. It may involve improving the public perception, educating the audience or correcting mis truths or incorrect information.
Effective PR encourages the mainstream media (TV, newspapers, magazines and radio) to write favorably about a company. For example, the large IT companies in most countries are very good at PR , so many engineers apply for software jobs (which can be very boring). Earlier few companies hired Public Relation agencies, but in the last few years, even smaller companies are paying attention to the public perception of the company.
Press releases are usually a written statement about a new product release, financial result or other milestone in the history of the company. They are one the most popular tool for public relations. Since many PR have a media background, press releases are usually written so that the media will quote verbatim from the press release. Press releases published online are usually optimized to rank well in search engines.
